Over ons

Over ons

We are Eric and José de Vries, we moved in 2004 from Wijk bij Duurstede to the beautiful Nieuw-Strijen, a hamlet belonging to the beautiful town of Poortvliet on Tholen in Zeeland. Our front garden consists of the beautiful Oosterschelde and our dogs can be let out fantastic.

how it started

The first Cane Corso we encountered in 1992, we were in love. We then scoured the entire internet, but could find very little about the breed. What we found was an American Dog Encyclopedia where the Cane Corso was described. But as the Cane Corso at that time was not yet recognized FCI, and we also did not know if that uberhaupt would happen once we put it out for our thoughts. Indeed, at that same time was established in the Netherlands Pitbullwet and we knew that a Cane Corso without pedigree would also most likely fall under that law. Therefore, we fully focused our attention back to our Staffordshire bullterriers which we would expect our first litter soon.

our passion

And our passion was aroused, and in that year we decided to devote our summer vacation at an Italian course, four days a week we went for three months, jobs at school and at home we tried just to talk Italian. We looked at a lot of RAI Uno, the Italian television, and often hired Italian films. At the same time our idea arose for our kennel name: E Chiaro Tondo. Literally means "radiant and around," and it stands for the Italian proverb: 'somewhere behind stand for 100%. And that fits with our breeding program. We want to fully stand behind our Cane Corso's, not only in health but also we will make every effort to ensure as possible typical of the breed dogs that also have a real Cane Corso character.
We also became a member of the SACC, the Italian Breed Club and thus a member of the ENCI, the Italian Kennel Club. Hence you will find the logos of these associations in our logo. We also joined several other foreign breed clubs.

the disappointment

In the years following, we would have to process many disappointments, so we have several dogs had very bad hips, some were so bad that we had to euthanize the dogs at an early age.
We also learned that, unfortunately, lines located in Italy with bad characters, dogs who are very reluctant to strangers and other dogs, until very fearful dogs. As this hereditary factors we are absolutely not breeding these dogs ..
However, we have different bloodlines from Italy and other countries through these experiences know well.

de cane corso club nederland

Along with Freddie Eleonora and Pauline Hart Camp we decided to focus on the Cane Corso Club in 1997 to be able to do even more for the breed. Our first event was soon a fact, the Raduno in Belgium, where several dozen Cane Corso were present. In August 2000 we officially joined the Association Council Kennelclub in the Netherlands. For a long time were the only official breed club for the Cane Corso outside Italy. There are now happy in several countries breed associations and are working hard to cooperation between these associations, in order to exchange knowledge in this way.
For years Eric was president of the club and Jose turned the magazine and website. Because we were regularly in Italy for our kennel, and our network of breeders and lovers themselves further and further expanded, the Cane Corso Club Netherlands could also find use, and managed very regular Italian judge to welcome the events of the breed. The club turned out well, the newsletter came out regularly and there were 3 evementen annually. In 2006, Eric decided to pass the gavel to the next generation. now the club had grown to a respectable club, with a significant number of members. The last event was the international Raduno where more than 160 dogs participated.

the Champions

Over the years we have there certainly already proven. Maia proved himself both in Italy and in the Netherlands and soon became Dutch champion, and later also Luxembourg Champion in 2002, she became even Club Winner of the Cane Corso Club Netherlands. But we are the breeder of the first in the Netherlands bred dog who won the Dutch Championship: Delano, which are now even the first outside Italy bred Cane Corso dog who became World Champion. His son, Agusto (also bred by us) was Junior World Champion. The first bitch bred in the Netherlands who won the Dutch Championship is in our name: Molina. More of our results you will find at the dogs themselves and the kampioenenparade.Ons topper currently Federico setting in the erekeuring 2nd in Maastricht in 2006 ended, unique to the Cane Corso at home and abroad. Zarathustra followed his example in Bleiswijk in the puppy group, there was his 3rd placed in the final inspection. And our own breeding Chiaro e Tondo Cayu Virginia just sort the results of Zarathustra. And Italian Champion, Chiaro e Tondo Jose's Queen was bred by us. Gradually, the Cane Corso begins in Netherlands (h) to be recognized and to gain elevation.

our dogs and puppies

Our dogs grow in and around the house. Our puppies have to around 3 weeks private room with their mother and then gradually learn to deal with the other dogs and are therefore in the living room and in our garden. Make the puppies at that time acquainted with the bench and with all other domestic issues. Potty training is often a slate roof as they take on the behavior of the other dogs in the pack.
To educate the puppies as much as possible you will come mostly only see one litter at a time. But being in a pack, the females are identical loops, and we still want to take into account the age of the females, is that you find two litters with us. We have still plenty of time to socialize the puppies enough, José's full-time with the dogs, and every day at home. In addition, we always help of good friends, who like to help.
In the period between 4 and 8 weeks to get our puppies also offered various kinds of food. This is because the stomachs and intestines of the puppies to as many kinds of get used dog food. Our puppies grow by default to Royal Canin, as we begin to implement the mother, as she suckles Royal Canin Starter. A chunk given later to the puppies. But before the puppies to kibble pass they get our starters mouse Royal Canin. This is to accustom the stomachs of solid food. Then they are transferred to the Starter. If they get them once well can chew Royal Canin Giant Puppy, a chunk of which they can eat until they're just about 8 months old.

zoo-easy

Recently we have been engaged in a database file, Zoo Easy. To gain better insight into the population of the Cane Corso in the Netherlands and abroad. It is easier to calculate when inbreeding and also health outcomes to the ancients at.

Importing and Exporting

Meanwhile, we also have many dogs exported to foreign countries, you can find them in Suriname, Bonaire, Curacao, Nigeria, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, America and England, Norway and even has a puppy to find us in Thailand and Egypt. We are proud that our dogs are now also found in Italy and there turn with the Italian dogs on the show and in the fokkerij.Inmiddels we have learned by experience that certain lines give better / healthier / rastypischere puppies than other lines.
This thanks to the kennels with whom we work in Italy and which allow us to breed better dogs. One of these kennels is the kennel by Mariano Di Chicco: Della Porta Dipinta, from which kennel include three-time world Cheno arises. Through this kennel, we always have the ability to choose appropriate breed typical dogs and bitches and we can breed with dogs that descended from the leading Dyriumbloedlijnen. These lines have already proven in Italy to give breed typical dogs.
We also work together with the famous Italian kennels Elmien Degli Dei Re Di Roma. And will soon have our first della Corte degli Olivi take office in our kennel. But we also work with kennels in other countries, including Sarka and Radek in Czech Republic, the Corso of Bajer Kennel and Jo and Marc in England Boleyn Cane Corso's.

The living space and puppy space

We have group average of eight dogs in the house, with the pack leaders Fleur and Babs. Because we can not keep all 14 dogs in the house, living there are also some in a separate enclosure. This we should have anyway to separate males from females in heat for instance, or dogs that are not so well with each other. In addition, we also have the ability to absorb in particular cases, a herplaatser. Because the Cane Corso is an active dog, you will see them regularly outside. Our living space consists of kennels where the dogs with his second and or third-and linger. They each have their own place. Of course, they may also delicious with us on the couch, or play in the playground. Guests are often greeted enthusiastically as you enter with us. This way we keep in touch with the dogs as we want. Please note that if you come to visit us.
A look at the path leading to the playground.

We like to walk our dogs, go with them to special dog walking areas nearby where they can play with other dogs and learn to swim. Similarly our puppies learn not only with our own dogs to go, but also with dogs of other breeds. We now have a second race at the Chihuahua, a big dog in a small body which a lot of fun living with the Cane Corso. If training is regularly cycled with the adult dogs.

show

Our dogs also saw encounter at the national and international shows at home and abroad, together with us, of course. Because we assume that it presents the best in the field, let us also bring our dogs by a professional handler, Kristy Leest. To know Kristy please visit the best of their own site. Our dogs are now also handled by a 2nd handler, Patricia Kooiman, is a great help for us in showing our dogs. A nice touch is that we will be able to devote more time to the many visitors we receive on the show.
At this time we are not often found on the show. This is because we no longer stand behind the show happen. We see the race this change, we are not happy.
